Super Boat International confirms New Orleans in June

John Carbonell, the President of Super Boat International (SBI) has announced the first of four races that the US Offshore organiser plans to hold this season.

SBI will host a 3 day event in the city of Kenner, a suburb of New Orleans on June 21-23.

Carbonell commented in a press release:

My last race in New Orleans was in 2002 when I raced in the world championships.

I am really looking forward to seeing a lot of the old friends I raced with there—I have fond memories not just of racing, but also of those races I produced.

There are so many reasons Kenner and New Orleans are special.

It will be great to be back to start this year’s race!

The Kenner Super Boat Grand Prix will kick-off with a boat parade on the Friday evening and Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn is looking forward to the event:

This is an exciting announcement for our city.

It’s been some years since Kenner hosted a powerboat race.

Events like this continue to put our city on the map and attract visitors and business to Kenner and I am looking forward to this exciting event.

SBI will announce a further 3 races in due course and whether they have been successful in their bid for staging the ever popular Key West event in November.
