FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Crowd Favorite, Team Wake Effects, Takes Victory in Superboat Unlimited Class
Michigan City, IN (August 10, 2017) — Super Boat International teams take on Lake Michigan by storm and overpower mother nature. Team WHM Motorsports wins the 9th Annual Great Lakes Grand Prix in commanding form as predictions for likely storms get thwarted with calm and sunny conditions. What started out as rough conditions, rain, wind and unusual cold temperatures gave way to a picture perfect day of racing on Sunday with what appeared to be record crowds.
Team WHM Motorsports held off Performance Boat Center and a trailing Team STIHL in the Superboat Class for a green checkered finish in front of a capacity crowd in Washington Park and the shores of Lake Michigan. With a great set-up and calmer water conditions than previous days, Team WHM ran a fast race that outpaced their competitors.
Team Wake Effects, in the Superboat Unlimited class, excited the crowds as they ran uncontested to take the victory and show off their speed of a nearly unmatched Superboat Unlimited MTI cat. Rusty Rahm and Jeff Harris focused on running great lap speeds and quality turns to continue to improve their year long relationship in the boat.
President and founder of Super Boat International, John Carbonell, commented on another great event in Michigan City, Indiana. “We are very proud to be a part of the success this event has had and excited to see it continue to grow over the years. It appeared to be a record crowd on the parade route and attendance along the beaches. We are very pleased with our partnership with the city of Michigan City, Jack Arnett, and Mayor, Ron Meers, for all they have done. This has become a marquee event that the racers love to come to along with our Super Boat team.” Jack Arnett, Executive Directory of LaPorte County CVB commented, “It really was a great event and such a good turn out in the city and on the beaches. We just have a lot of support.”
So many teams ran a great race showcasing the experience of many of these great drivers and teams.
