Teams Bring More Horse Power To Coast Along Side Rare Mustangs

Morehead City, NC (September 22, 2010) – Team Boat Show Direct stole the show with a commanding charge to victory and a top speed just under 145 miles per hour at the 5th Annual Crystal Coast Super Boat Grand Prix during this past weekend. Teams raced along the port and historic beaches while fans along both sides watched their favorite teams compete. Even some 4-legged, single horsepower, onlookers watched as Super Boats raced the famous area. Photo Gallery.

Since the 16th century, wild Mustangs have roamed free on the beaches and wetlands along the Crystal Coast in Morehead City. Just over a 120 horses (120 Horsepower) still roam wild today. The Mustangs didn’t seem to pay much attention as the super charged, thousand plus horsepower teams raced during a spectacular weekend for the 5th annual Super Boat event.

Joe Lamberti, owner of Team Boat Show Direct, said it was a great day. “We ran real strong going about 140 plus miles per hour today out there. Our new throttle guy, Jeff [McCain] did real well in there and it made my job easy. This boat [Fountain Powerboats] just flies; you couldn’t have a better boat underneath you. Reggie [Fountain] builds the best boats with the best power and we just had a great day.”

Fountain comments on Lamberti’s performance, “Joe did a great job out there and ran a conservative race under control. I wish he would have run a bit faster, but as attrition would have it, it looks like he was the smartest guy out there. We have a lot of Fountains running… it’s just good to see a Fountain in victory lane.”

Another successful boat, Team Instigator, won the Super Vee Unlimited class for their 5th win of the season. Owner Peter Meyer comments, “We had a really good day out there. The best thing about our motors and team is we’ve stayed consistent all season. We’ve been able to run the easier races and then the rough races, all while keeping the equipment operating. In this sport, that’s how you win races… being out there when the checkered flag drops.”

Super Vee Limited team [Watch Your Back], always a crowd favorite, had many fans watching them. The sleek white Vee Bottom, owned by Doctor Mike Janssen, ran a great race around the 5-1/2 mile course in just over 37 minutes start to finish.

The fifth annual event sported record crowds during the 3-day race weekend. All the boats were showcased in the Dry Pits along Evans Street for teams and fans to see.

The next race for Super Boat International is October 1st – 3rd, the 2010 Bright House Clearwater Super Boat National Championships in Clearwater Beach, Florida.
