Super Boat International Not To Compete in Ft. Lauderdale
June 4th- 6th 2010 Event Eliminated from National Racing Schedule
Key West, (May 25, 2010) – Super Boat International (SBI) race teams have successfully completed the second race of the 2010 National Points season, returning from Biloxi, MS this past weekend. The previously scheduled June 4th – 6th event in Ft. Lauderdale has been eliminated and will not be rescheduled. SBI has had many exciting races in Ft. Lauderdale, with the city including the Air and Sea show. The terms with SBI and the City of Ft. Lauderdale could not be agreed upon and, therefore, SBI felt it in the best interest to eliminate it from the 2010 schedule.
Many of the waterway and environmental requirements thrust upon race and event producers in coastal cities have become very challenging. “It is unfortunate the City would not work with SBI to the degree necessary to make this event happen,” commented SBI president John Carbonell. We are very excited to have added Cocoa Beach to our schedule this year and all other venues are in place and ready for a great season.
The next stop on the 2010 National Series is the 26th Annual Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix July 4th weekend in Sarasota, Florida.
